In this podcast, veteran newsman Jim Williams speaks with his former colleague Alita Guillen about the challenges of broadcast television. He also shares a behind the scenes look at working as press secretary for the infamous Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley, offers viewers tools to differentiate fictional reporting, and reveals what goes through his mind 10 seconds to air.

Williams began his broadcast journalism career more than 40 years ago at WGN-TV.


He has served as a correspondent for ABC News, reporting across the country for "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings,” "Good Morning America," and “Nightline.”


He joined CBS Chicago in December 2002.


Williams has won several journalism awards, including an Emmy for investigative reporting. In May of 2018, he was inducted into the National Television Academy of Arts & Sciences' Silver Circle for his lifetime of work in Chicago television.


Williams was born and raised on Chicago's South Side.
