That's when something strange happened in the neighborhood and two fun sci-fi horror comedies took over the movie theater, creating memorable franchises. Ghostbusters from Ivan Reitman and Gremlins from Joe Dante were unleashed in theaters 40 years ago, giving kids like us a great "gateway horror" double feature.
